About

I am a certified residential appraiser with expertise in complex homes, acreage properties, and small income multi-family properties. I am based in Woodland, CA and cover Yolo, Solano, Colusa, and Sacramento Counties.

I graduated from UC Davis with a BA in Economics and Mathematics minor. After a 10-year run at Valley Record Distributors, I switched careers in 2002 to residential real estate appraisal. I started Joseph Lynch Appraisal Services in 2008. My client base includes the general public, financial advisers, lawyers, real estate agents, and local and national lenders. I have been recognized as an expert witness in Yolo County Superior Court, Solano County Superior Court, and the US District Court for the Eastern District of California.

I am active with the Real Estate Appraisers Association (REAA) and am the president of the corporate board. Previously, I served four years as the Sacramento chapter president. When not appraising, I like to camp, backpack, and ride my bike.

In addition to appraising, I teach classes for appraisers on using excel, pivot tables, and appraising complex properties through the Real Estate Appraisers Association. I am the 2022  Co-Affiliate of the Year for the Yolo County Association of Realtors and am the only appraiser affiliate with the Northern Solano County Association of Realtors.

I plan to use this blog to discuss residential real estate appraising in Yolo and Solano Counties in Northern California specifically and about real estate and appraisal in general.
